Committee of Management / Sub-Committees

Charleston Community Centre Incorporated has been operating in the Charleston community since the early 20th Century. It has always supported the community with many social and sporting activities throughout that period, rom Saturday night dances, tennis club matches and many other activities it has always been a focus for the town. In 1991, the management committee was officially Incorporated and maintains a strong management committee that oversights the running and development of the Centre. The Charleston Community Centre is a hub for many activities within the local community, with great facilities such as, a community hall, three tennis day/night courts, adventure playground, fitness equipment, two BBQ shelters, heritage shade trees, large carpark, community garden, and public toilets.

The management of the Centre is entirely voluntary, with a contribution from the AHC for the public toilet upkeep and PlaySpace equipment.

Membership

Becoming a member of the CCC supports the running and development of the Centre. It is a way to contribute to the facilities offered to the Charleston community by in-kind contributions at working bees, fundraising events and in times of emergencies that affect the township.

For those who are part of our sub-committees or casual onsite volunteer work, it also provides you with volunteer insurance.

Membership per annum $5.00 pp or $10.00 family. Email charlestoncommunitycentre@outlook.com for a Membership form. Once filled out, please return to the Secretary via email. Your application will be reviewed at the next Committee meeting for approval. The Secretary will notify you, and send the Bank payment details. You will receive a copy of the CCC constitution and the Policy and Procedures Manual for reference.

According to our Constitution, Ordinary Members cannot vote at Committee Meetings, and will need to be a member for a minimum of ONE membership year before elected to the Committee or as agreed by the Committee.

Members are always very welcome to attend our workshops, working bees and events at the Centre.

Sub-Committees & Meetings

Charleston Emergency Response and Recovery Group (CERRG)

CERRG is a sub-committee of the Charleston Community Centre (CCC)

CERRG committee meet on the 2nd Thursday of the month 7.15 - 9.15PM Charleston Hall Newman Road Charleston.

New members to the CERRG are welcomed and encouraged to attend to become familiar with CERRG operations and help develop our response capacity.

Newman Park Community Garden

 Newman Park Community Garden is a sub-committee of the CCC.

The Garden has an open policy and CCC members are free to come and go to work on various garden projects as required. Paid Membership is required to obtain Volunteer insurance.

NPCG committee meets 4th Sunday 9.30 - 12.00 depending on weather and activity.
